Ifollow

Sky will provide a minimum of two cameras for L2 games. They will also provide their own commentators - so goodbye to BBC Radio Kent crap commentary.

I think we will still get audio commentary from RK with Peter Lloyd

It seems to affect me even more now than when I was a regular back when. Bizarre. Maybe that’s just t’internet.

For me, I think it’s all concentrated down to Gills. I used to soak up all the football I could watch. Take massive interest in premier league, champions league etc so there was a bit of balancing out effect. Now I only care about the Gills. All or nothing!

Only exception would be England in world cups and Euros. .

Years ago when live games were few and far in between it was easy to justify watching Gills, Match of the day and the odd live game and easily doable.

Nowadays there is far to much choice. Try watching every available game, unless your partner shares your passion you will end up spending all your spare time watching football and very soon single.

Now it's Gills and the league we are in. When England play I have no idea who half the players are. I couldn't imagine that a few years back.

Blast from the past!

There was some mention of buying daily/monthly passes for NOW.

Unfortunately the daily pass does not include the required ‘bonus streams’

The monthly option at £26/month is a six month offer after which you start paying £34.99/month. While you can cancel at any time, looks like if you do so you won’t be able to simply take up the offer again.

So VPNs and ifollow all round then.

The risk is that they improve the security for iFollow. For instance, a lot of the US streaming services require you to have a US debit card.

Plus ça change…
Should we be surprised with this? Sky, iFollow and God knows how many others just want to squeeze as much money out of us and the EFL have gone along with it, for a cut of the gains. I just hope this doesn't end up in a similar fashion to the ITV fiasco (I think PDPS may have mentioned it sometime in the past).

So far the VPN route works well but there is was incentive to crack down on it as doing so so would be turning away revenue and there was no competition.

With sky now on the seen might this become more difficult?

And us special firestick customers!!! Yes, the EFL press release is specific about it being for domestic customer, so it seems ifolllow will still be an option for overseas customers, those with a good vpn or a special firestick!
Was going to say firesticks your surly find the games

£10 to £12 is 20% inflation btw💰
and that is just the beginning of the fun. I can see it going the same way as most streaming services, they pull you in with a relatively good deal for six months but once the period has expired they then hike the prices sky high which makes it a case of like it or lump it - as I mentioned before M'lud.

With regard to VPN's, I think it might be more difficult for them to actually find the IP address of the user but, as some have suggested, making the payment in local currency could throw a spanner in the works. I also believe that the VPN companies only have a limited number of IP addresses for each hub and the IT bods at iFollow may have a list of the mainly used IP address and then block that as, and when, recognised when logging in.

Cheers, Lark. I can currently access all the Sky Sports channels via my Virgin TV platform. So, I assume i`ll be able to watch a fair number of EFL games via TV.
Suppose, additionally, i`ll need to take out a NOW subscription as well for any games not shown on TV but streamed via NOW. Ta.
Sky sport channels via NOW has the day pass at approx £12 and monthly £35 - often however they have offers. I currently have a one year deal at £20 pm.
Its in half hd so to get full hd its an extra fiver a month.

The NOW daily pass doesn’t include ‘bonus streams’ though and looks like that’s what’s needed for EFL games - there is contradictory info across various different pages of the sky sports website though.

Prices I saw for NOW were £14.99 for the day pass and £26/month rising to £35 after 6 months.

We really do need some definitive statements from Sky/EFL abo it what is going on / what a typical fixture list is likely to look like. There’s a lot of (to a certain extent unnecessary) worry that half our fixtures will be moved and that there’s no point buying a season ticket.

suppose I’d better cancel my monthly subscription to IFollow ?
Not much point in having it anymore.
I expect I can get radio Kent from BBC sounds.
