Summer Transfer Rumours

What the recent investment by the Fowlers, said to be £2 million, has done is to protect the Club from having to consider speculative offers for our better players at below their true market value and enable us to keep the nucleus of the side for next season. Some Clubs are bound to try it on but we are in a position now of relative financial strength to tell them to go away unless a very substantial realistic bid is received, Erhahon for example, £1.5 million .

Minimum - if it was Pish they would be starting at 3million and see what they get offered. 🤔

Matt O'Reilly went from MK to Celtic for £1.5m (not sure if that was a release clause) a couple of years ago.

That site probably gets a 1 in 50 rumour right so you never know with those last two which seem more to fit our usual target than Wyke is

Wyke is 32 in mid-season, a serious health issue not too long ago - if we have doubts about Bishop and Montsma, this one is a non-starter.

Hartridge rejected a contract offer, so he probably has something lined up. He has always looked ok against us, so I would not be too surprised.

Evans is almost 27 and has one good season under his belt; came from the Welsh Premier where he didn't exactly set the world on fire. Less likely.

lots to like there with evans. house-type closing down and tackling. headed goals - something we are short on. lots of forward running.
looks like he has played all over midfield and left back in 22/23.
21 goals playing a more attacking role 23/24 season.

Also left Sunderland for Wigan on a £10k/week contract apparently as well.

Of all the wild rumours, the only one that really stacks up is Evans.

Would be a step up in standard for him. Coped well with the step up from the Welsh League to Newport though.

Doubt we'd go for anyone over 25/26 unless an experienced head in the middle. Clearly obvious what we missed in the first half of the season and that was pace. The solution wouldn't be Wyke.
